Dinnerware serves two purposes. Primarily it provides a hard hygienic surface for your food. All the dinnerware we offer has a hard impervious glaze providing an easy to clean hygienic surface. The second purpose appeals to our desire to surround ourselves with beautiful objects. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What you like I may not so a wide variety of dinnerware designs, colors and textures is offered. SOHO Lounge Purple Dinnerware Set more than satisfies our bold color desires and Noritake Colorwave Graphite Dinnerware with its lustrous satin glaze is ideal for those wanting textural feel with splashes of colors in a contemporary design.
Plum Street Pottery heavily researched crystal glassware and in particular wine glasses and whiskey glasses. Crystal used to be produced using lead to give it sparkle and clarity. Lead also allowed intricate faceted designs to be ground into the glass, Waterford crystal is an excellent example. The facets in glass increase the sparkle and add diamond like qualities.
In modern crystal, lead has been virtually eliminated. Innovative glass manufacturers like Schott Zwiesel add titanium for toughness and zirconium oxide for sparkle and clarity. More information on Schott Zwiesel’s Tritan Crystal is available at Crystal Glasses.
Glasses come in all sizes and price ranges. Many of the wine and whiskey glasses sold today are a great value because they are machine made. The old world art of hand made mouth blown crystal, however, is alive and well. World renowned glass manufacturers like Orrefors continue to progress the art of mouth blown crystal but because it is mouth blown the glass is substantially more expensive and for good reason, it is a labor of love for the artisan.
