6 Great Tips to Make Your Shower Look like New
Showers are the best part of the day, but there is one thing that can ruin them – and that’s a dirty shower. It’s easily done, and you would be surprised by how quickly your pristine haven can turn into a terrifying mess. If your shower is starting to look a little sad, there are a few quick and easy tips that you can use to get it looking brand new again.
#1 Squeegee Hard Water Stains Away
These are probably the most common type of grime in a shower, and the one that people hate the most. The good thing is that they are actually really easy to get rid of, and you won’t end up with etched glass if you keep on top of things.
By grabbing a squeegee and running it up and down the glass doors after you shower, you can prevent excess water from settling and creating these irritating spots. Alternatively, there is the option to use a microfibre cloth if this is better suited to your needs. When you squeegee or wipe, just make sure you do it up and down to prevent water marks.
#2 Replacing Shower Door Rollers
These can gather so much dirt, grime, and hair, that after a while they become nothing more than dirt traps. If you replace them every year or so, you will end up with rollers that are not only clean, but also provide smoother closing and opening. You can buy these online from specialist shower roller companies or from most large DIY stores.
#3 Use Lemon Juice to Remove Limescale
Limescale doesn’t need harsh cleaners for removal, and you may already have the best natural solution in your fridge or fruit bowl. Cut the lemons in half and squeeze the juice into a bowl. Using cotton wool pads, you can scrub the limescale away as the acidity will dissolve it. If you have really tough patches, you can also leave the juice on the affected area for a few hours before cleaning. It works perfectly on both showerheads and glass shelves.
#4 Scrub the Floor and Walls after a Shower
The best way to stay on top of grime and mould is to make sure everything is clean once you are done. Scrubbing the walls with a sponge during or after your shower helps wash the grim away, and also leaves you with a clear place to stick your Bluetooth player up for morning tunes.
The floor can also become stained after a while if it is not rinsed after your foot dirt has been on it. Once you have finished washing, ensure that you give the shower floor a good rinse to get rid of all the excess dirt and grime and keep it looking brand new.
#5 Consider Switching Bar Soap for Liquid
Interestingly, bar soap can actually leave a load of scum behind in your shower. This can be difficult to clean and leave your shower looking very grimy. The best solution is to switch to liquid soap and gels instead. It really will make a difference with regards to the overall cleanliness of your shower.
#6 Get a Dehumidifier
These work wonders, and every bathroom should have one. Humidity and condensation (especially after a shower) can result in mould, mildew, and moisture build-ups in and around the shower. A dehumidifier works to collect the excess moisture and leave you with a room that is dryer and more breathable.
Hopefully, you are not on the path to a truly clean and beautiful shower, so that you can continue to enjoy your daily cleanse without wondering why the floor is slimy. If you stay on top of things and keep it scrubbed regularly, your shower can look brand new all the time. Plus, each of these little tips and tricks is very affordable, so you don’t need to spend a small fortune to stay tidy.
